Wasn't sure about turning my own handle but the parts went together without any fuss. The handle I turned from a scrap of cherry fits my hand way better than the stock one did.

The knurled collar cinches down smoothly and the threads engage cleanly every time, so the handle feels rock-solid once it's seated. I swapped out a cheap factory grip for this setup and the balance on my gouge is noticeably better during long carving sessions.
