I used this to finish the exposed plywood edges on a set of shop shelves and the birch grain matched so closely you can barely tell where the banding starts. Trimming the overhang with a sharp chisel took a few extra minutes, but it was worth it for the clean look.
The adhesive backing sticks well once you press it down with a roller, though I'd suggest trimming slightly oversize since the edges can splinter if you cut them flush too fast. Grain matched pretty closely to my birch plywood, close enough that the seams disappear from a few feet away.
