I brushed this onto a pine bench and the black is proper black, not that washed-out grey you get from some finishes. Took two coats to cover the knots properly, but it leveled out smooth with no brush marks.
The color is so deep and rich it makes the grain of my oak shelf really pop, and I love that it’s a traditional linseed oil finish rather than a plastic-looking varnish. It took a few coats to get the coverage I wanted, but the final result has that classic, hand-rubbed look I was after.
The oil goes on smoothly and dries to that deep, rich black I wanted for my shelf edges. It’s my first time using a traditional linseed finish, and the color has a nice depth that feels authentic.
