Japanilainen sileä puinen höylä

The fit and finish on this plane are exactly what I hoped for—the traditional construction feels solid in hand, and the wood is smooth with no rough edges. It takes incredibly fine shavings right out of the box, which made my first pass on a cedar board almost effortless.

The grain on this thing is gorgeous, and the blade sits perfectly flush right out of the box. First pass on some oak and it left a surface so smooth I almost didn't need sanding. Exactly what I wanted for fine work.

I’ve been reaching for this plane every day since it arrived. The blade sits perfectly flush in the traditional wooden body, and it takes whisper-thin shavings off cedar without any chatter.
