E.C. Emmerich Traditioneller Holz-Schlichthobel

The wooden body sits perfectly in my palm, and the blade took a razor edge right out of the box—it's made my dovetail joints noticeably cleaner with less effort.

The beechwood body warms up nicely during use, and the blade took a razor edge right out of the box. It’s my go-to for final passes on walnut — the weight lets it do the work without straining my wrist.

I was skeptical about going back to a wooden plane, but the traditional grip is exactly what my hand needed after years of metal ones—no more cold shock on winter mornings. The comfortable hold makes long smoothing passes feel almost effortless.
