My back used to ache after twenty minutes of kneeling and yanking weeds, but these let me work standing up and the taproots actually come out in one piece. The narrow tip gets right down alongside the root without tearing up the grass around it.

Getting dandelions out whole instead of snapping the root is the main reason I reach for this now. The foot pedal takes a bit of stomping force on hard summer ground, but it sinks in fine after rain.

The narrow shaft makes popping tap-rooted weeds out way less of a backache than my old weeder, and the tip grips the root without mangling the lawn. Only gripe is it can clog with damp soil, so I keep a stick handy to poke it clear.
